How to Incorporate Your Pup Into Your Wedding Day

46% of all American’s have a dog and it’s become increasingly important to include our furry friends in our everyday life. With the increase in flexible work schedules, we’re more attached to our dogs than ever and, if you’re marrying locally or at your own home, why not incorporate your dog? To keep you and your pup happy, I recommend taking a few precautions —

  1. I highly recommend a very quick check-in, no matter the dog’s temperament. You might have the most chill dog ever but if she’s never been to a wedding, she is going to be nervous. It’s loud, it’s new, 20 people are trying to pet her. It’s just so outside of a normal day. Keep the visit under an hour, 30 minutes is ideal.

  2. Ask your vet for some calming medicines or techniques and make sure you try them out before the big day, to avoid adverse reactions.

  3. If your dog is walking down the aisle, make sure his handler is very familiar with the dog. You can use a service to transport your dog from the venue and back home - or to the kennel where he’s being boarded.

I’m all for very important guests, just be realistic and conscientious of what your pup can be expected to do on your day.
